Bar Etiquette

This one really annoys me! We've all been there, head up to the bar and some bastard danders up after you, and he knows you were there before him and still goes ahead and gets served before you. There is a simple etiquette that everyone should adhere too! You go up to the bar, if someone is there before you and you KNOW that they have been waiting to be served then if the bar (wo)man accidently serves you first politely point out there is some to be served before you. Not a hard thing to do! Now of course it can depend just on how busy a place is, if its totally rammed at the bar you may be forgiven but you should always try and have good etiquette.

There is also another point to bar etiquette that is perhaps even more important. Never piss off the person serving you. Thats just plain stupid. If your in a busy bar waiting to be served and someone jumps in and the bar man serves them first it is likely they didn't know who was first in line. Too many wankers start shouting at the bar man for serving someone before them, when in fact its the prick who has knowingly skipped infront of you that you should be annoyed with! Also never forget the person behind the bar is the one who ultimately decides if you get served at all, so only an idiot would unduely give them abuse.

So please in future follow a simple protocol that after years of frequenting various drinking establishments in many different countries I have found to work quite well. Go to the bar. If its busy have some money ready if possible and POLITELY try and make eye contact with the server. If someone beside/near you was there before you, allow them to be served first. NEVER shout/click your fingers/verbally abuse the bar staff...In short don't be a wanker. You'll have a much more pleasant experience.
